YES. Someone said this.
This isn’t under fandom sally because the person this is based on isn’t really a fan of anything.
I’ll call her “DECONSTRUCTION SALLY”. This is the Sally who takes the most innocuous things and gives them ridiculous interpretations. She’s one of those people who will stand up and ,with a straight face, say: “Winnie the Pooh is an allegory for the capitalist’s dependency on oil and slavery.” (you know the type)
In this specific case it’s about an enterprising Sally who staked her moral high ground on the poaching of the rare, speckle-backed Ableist.
She had it made up in her mind that Superman (and I’m guessing other fictional characters like him) stands as a symbol of ableism.
How? By…being SUPER.
She believed that his being powerful compared to mortals drew a parallel with people who are able-bodied when being compared to those with disabilities or illnesses. Of course, she thought THAT IT WAS OFFENSIVE.
I hope you’re getting this.
She was —in effect—saying that: (without directly belittling, underestimating or discriminating against the disabled or disadvantaged) Able-bodied people insult them by …NOT being disabled or disadvantaged.
*incoming tangent*
I’m guessing this was her evolving one of those “privilege/guilt” arguments, but I dropped out long before that. I can’t fucking stand the concept of inherited evil, it tramples on the concept of the individual and moral agency.
I’m black, so I guess I’m not very privileged. I have, however, seen enough internet spats where people would get “called out” for not being of color, not being poor and not being disabled…like those things in and of themselves are hate crimes.
I’ve seen that enough to notice that it’s strange.
I mean… what is it they’re supposed to do?
Are they supposed to wear a trigger warning for existing?
Why must SJS’s project these cynical worldviews on the people they want to protect by assuming that “every sick person wants every other person to share in their illness”
I think it’s dumb.
I don’t see any practical application for that kind of moral paradigm.

i hope this person didn’t watch the smallville episode where clark went temporarily blind, they would have had a coronary

Male privilege is not having to be prescribed birth control by a doctor. You can just go to any store EVER and buy condoms. If women want to be 100% responsible for their own reproductive health, they have to make an appointment, pay for that, get a prescription, go pick it up, pay for that, blah blah blah.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. You cannot compare condoms to drugs. Of course you have to get a prescription and pay for a drug that can severely alter your mood/take away pain/regulate cycles/sometimes halt your period altogether/do a million other things to your body. Why the hell would you not have to pay for that?

birth control=/=condoms, guys. Come on.
